Description
T.ej is a TEDx-style speaking and networking event with a Japanese twist, organised by Experience Japan. Join us on Sunday April 9th for Japan-related talks and a screening of the Japan Foundation film The Letter (手紙)! The film starts from 3:30 pm, and you need a ticket to enter. (Please note: The film is strictly over 18 as this is screened under movie club rules.)
Since they lost their parents, Takeshi has provided for his younger brother Naoki. But when Takeshi is fired from his job, he is forced to take desperate measures to ensure that his brother’s education will not suffer. After a house-breaking goes horribly wrong, Takeshi ends up in prison and writes to his bother every month…unaware that his sibling is struggling to cope too. Based on the novel by best-selling author Keigo Higashino, The Letter is a moving examination of the ripple effect a crime can have, its impact reaching far beyond the lives of just the perpetrator and the victim.
