Welcome to Experience Japan
Experience Japan is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit community organisation based in Ireland. We work to bring together local community groups to celebrate and share Japanese traditions and culture.
Our flagship event each year is the award-winning 🌸Hanami Festival🌸 in April, a family-friendly outdoors event which takes place at Farmleigh House towards the back of Phoenix Park in Dublin.
This year’s Hanami Festival will take place on Sunday 19th April / 2020年4月19日.
Due to the current situation with coronavirus, we are currently monitoring public health and safety advisories in relation to how best to proceed. More information soon, stay safe everyone!
Each year we showcase a selection of musical and dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, seminars, and a variety of traditional arts and crafts. Expect also to enjoy a range of Japanese food options!
Many festival-goers dress for the occasion: in traditional styles, following Japanese fashion subcultures, or in cosplay. You can even try on a traditional Kimono and get your photo taken!
If you are interested in contributing to or volunteering at the festival, please write us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We are always interested in fresh ideas.
The Experience Japan Taiko Team are also involved in other events throughout the year. Recent events include:
- ThinkLanguages 2019 in the Convention Centre
- J-Con 2019 in the Croke Park Conference Centre
- Irish/Japanese Music Fusion 2019 in the Smock Alley Theatre
- Ultimate Taiko 2018 in Cultúrlann na Éireann with Hiro Hayashida-sensei
